The History of Warner, New Hampshire

for ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-FOUR YEARS,

From 1735-1879

by Walter Harriman

From the Forward

The History of Warner, published in 1879 by Walter Harriman, traces our town's history 140 years back to the first grant in 1735.  Another Warner historian, Fred Myron Colby wrote in his biographical sketch of General Harriman in the History of Warner section of the History of Merrimack and Belknap Countiespublished in 1885: "A few years before his death he wrote a History of Warner which is regarded as one of the most systematic, comprehensive and generally interesting works of its kind yet given to the public in the State."

The limited edition reprint of this history in 1975, by the Warner American Revolution Bicentennial Committee, was so popular that it soon sold out and a waiting list was created.  Interest and demand for another reprint has prompted the Warner Historical Society to undertake the job as part of their community service role.
