The Upton Chandler House Museum Annual Report 2006

The Upton Chandler House Museum had another successful year, beginning with the opening of our exhibit "This morning broke clear … Warner, N.H. in the wake of the Civil War." This exhibit was designed to enhance and supplement the documentary movie that will be released later this year. A gathering of 100 people attended the exhibit’s opening on July 4, 2006. Guests included a Naval contingent of 12 from the USS Kearsarge docked in Boston over the holiday. The number of visitors for the summer totaled over 70.

Construction of the archival storage rooms were completed this past spring by the exceptional carpenters Robert Shoemaker, Richard Cook and Charlie Betz. We are in the process of making floor plans for metal shelving and are storing some of the Society’s collection there.

Robert Shoemaker and Richard Cook also built sixteen exhibit cases for the exhibits. We ordered 16 custom made plexi-glass tops that would provide a secure and dust free enclosure for artifacts, photographs, and other precious Historical Society items.

We have been working with George Pellettieri as he creates a landscape design for the front yard and the rear courtyard. The project will be completed by next summer.

Thank you to Linda Hartman for acquiring donated flowers and plants from people and garden shops for the future flower gardens that will grace the Museum. A very special thank you to Ron Piroso for mowing the lawn and maintaining the yard this summer.

Thank you to docents Linda Hartman, Evelyn Davis, Fred Carlson, Evie Joss, and Bev Howe for providing guidance for the summer exhibit.

To the ever loyal Committee Members David and Linda Hartman, Ken and Nancy Cogswell, Evie Joss, Rebecca Courser, and Robert Shoemaker, a heartfelt and sincere thank you for your dedication and hard work in making our Museum such a beautiful building that houses our exhibits.

Respectfully submitted,

Mary E. Cogswell
