Main Street House Report

The Main Street House Committee continues to work on maintaining the building. The gutters put on last year are working fine, keeping the water away from the siding. New air conditioners were bought for the kitchen and the main room. The cellar was cleaned up and two trips made to the Transfer Station. Insulating foam was used to fill up the gaps and holes in the stone foundation. After which, two storage shelves were bought for the cellar to store house items. The screening was replaced in the screen door on the ell and a plexiglass shield installed to prevent future tearing and puncturing of the screen. Once the Christmas decorations were sorted and organized, the floor space over the ell was cleaned out and another couple of loads of junk were carted off to the transfer station. Thanks go to Jim McLaughlin and Ron Piroso, who, working at different times, repaired the toilet in the bathroom and it is now working fine. This past August, the fuel line from the fuel tank to the furnace developed a leak and was repaired but not before spilling an amount of oil onto the dirt floor. The fuel tank was determined to be very old also and has been replaced by H. R. Clough this September. They also removed the contaminated, oil soaked dirt. Other small repairs have been made and the Committee will continue to be proactive in maintaining this old building.

Respectfully submitted,

Donald Wheeler
